Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Ariadne by Herbert James Draper was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2009. The price achieved of GBP 73,250.00 (€ 82,628.58) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Herbert James Draper achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Mountain Mists in October 2021 with an auction result of USD 2,010,000.00 (€ 1,739,958.45).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Ariadne von Herbert James Draper kam im Dezember 2009 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 73.250,00 (€ 82.628,58) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Herbert James Draper erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Mountain Mists im Oktober 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.010.000,00 (€ 1.739.958,45).
