In May last year Sothebys in London held the auction The Library of Henry Rogers Broughton, 2nd Baron Fairhaven Part I, which included the work A monograph of the meropidae, or family of bee-eaters, 1884-1886 by Henry Eeles Dresser. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 5,670.00 (€ 6,670.22), 42% above the upper estimate. Other works by Henry Eeles Dresser have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 6,300.00 (€ 7,411.35) in May last year for the work A history of the birds in Europe, 1871 [-1882|AID711761].
