The »bidding war« ended at USD 89,625.00 (€ 83,457.49), 28% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Henry Darger have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sans Titre in December 2014 with an auction result of EUR 601,500.00.

Die Arbeit While Inside they Await Developments/They are Cleverly Outwitted... von Henry Darger wurde im Januar 2003 in der Auktion 20TH CENTURY SELF-TAUGHT AND OUTSIDER ART bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 89.625,00 (€ 83.457,49) und damit 28% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Henry Darger auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Sans Titre im Dezember 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 601.500,00.
