Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The proposal; and The scandal by Henry Andrews was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2004. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,365.00 (€ 12,449.63) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Henry Andrews - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A fête champêtre, with courtly figures dancing, which sold at auction in June 2002 for GBP 16,730.00 (€ 25,877.52).
