Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Place Gudule, Caen, Normandy; and Fontaine Belle, Nurenberg, Bavaria by Henry Schäfer was auctioned at Christies in London in February 2008. The price achieved of GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,634.95) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Henry Schäfer - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Luys near Morlaix, Britanny; and Eveux, Normandy, which sold at auction in May 2002 for GBP 3,760.00 (€ 5,888.21).
