Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Two miniatures of Constance de Caumont La Force, Marquise de La Grange, facing right in brown dress with wide lace-bordered white collar and smaller pink collar, gold-embroidered red scarf under the white collar and fastened at the waist by an embroi by Henri Joseph Hesse was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2000. The price achieved of GBP 940.00 (€ 1,508.35) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Henri Joseph Hesse - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A young officer, facing right in scarlet coat with silver-embroidered blue facings and silver epaulette, frilled white stock and black cravat, which sold at auction in November 2001 for GBP 2,350.00 (€ 3,739.59).
