Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2012 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master & British Paintings, which included the work Figures Resting In A Capriccio View Of The Roman Forum by Hendrik Mommers. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 10,625.00 (€ 13,238.28) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Hendrik Mommers - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An Italianate Landscape With Village Women Travelling To Market With A Donkey; And An Italianate Landscape With Villagers And An Ox-Cart, which sold at auction in November 2007 for GBP 23,300.00 (€ 32,626.03).
