This artwork by Hendrick Martensz. Sorgh achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in April 2004. In the Old Master Pictures auction, the work The Interior Of An Inn With Peasants Drinking And Conversing Before A Fire sold for GBP 17,925.00 (€ 16,104.36) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hendrick Martensz. Sorgh achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Musical Company in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 1,762,500.00 (€ 1,285,089.32).
