Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Hendrick Avercamp could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in January 2021 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master Drawings auction, the work River landscape with a man and boy fishing, cows and a village behind changed hands for USD 75,600.00 (€ 62,299.13) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hendrick Avercamp achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Panoramic Winter Landscape With A Multitude Of Figures On A Frozen River in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 5,010,500.00 (€ 6,319,815.87).
