In July last year Sothebys in London held the auction European & British Art, Part I, which included the work Self-Portrait by Helene Schjerfbeck. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,124,000.00 (€ 1,342,255.64), 41% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Helene Schjerfbeck - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Tanssiaiskengät; Balskorna (Dancing Shoes), which sold at auction in May 2008 for GBP 3,044,500.00 (€ 3,872,737.05).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 41 % übertroffen
Im Juli letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in London die Auktion European & British Art, Part I durch, in der auch die Arbeit Self-Portrait von Helene Schjerfbeck zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.124.000,00 (€ 1.342.255,64) und damit 41% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Helene Schjerfbeck mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Tanssiaiskengät; Balskorna (Dancing Shoes) beobachtet, die im Mai 2008 für GBP 3.044.500,00 (€ 3.872.737,05) versteigert wurde.
