Signed H. Schjerfbeck. Executed whilst on one of the artist's two visits to St Ives, Cornwall - the first being in 1887-88 and the second in 1889-90. Panel 25.6 x 34.5 cm. Bukowskis would like to thank Ms. Leena Ahtola Moorhouse for information on this hitherto unknown painting which will be included in the listing of Schjerfbeck's works.

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work (White roses in a glass) by Helene Schjerfbeck was sold in the Important Winter Sale auction at Bukowski in Stockholm in December last year. The price achieved of SEK 1,250,000.00 (€ 112,053.65) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as SEK 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Helene Schjerfbeck achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tanssiaiskengät; Balskorna (Dancing Shoes) in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 3,044,500.00 (€ 3,872,737.05).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit (White roses in a glass) von Helene Schjerfbeck wurde im Dezember letzten Jahres in der Auktion Important Winter Sale bei Bukowski in Stockholm versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von SEK 1.250.000,00 (€ 112.053,65) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit SEK 1.000.000,00 – 1.500.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Helene Schjerfbeck erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Tanssiaiskengät; Balskorna (Dancing Shoes) im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.044.500,00 (€ 3.872.737,05).
