signed, dated and with fly insignia 'Helen Bradley 1978' (upper left); further signed, dated and inscribed 'The sun looked down/The world of yesterday was gone/Dust enveloped what was its beauty/Only blackened earth remained/Human shapes, still and silent/Charcoal trees holding up their hands/To God, and a voice whispered,/thro the desolation, "They that do wickedly/shall burn", and it was so/How after the great cry "Have Mercy"/"Have Mercy", the Earth in its Beauty/became nothing but a cinder.'/Helen Bradley 1978' (on sheet verso)
