Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Sussex Cottage; Old Cottage At Alfriston by Helen Allingham was sold in the Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art auction at Sothebys in London in December 2015. The price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 8,487.20) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Admittedly, works by Helen Allingham have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Beside The Old Church Gate Farm, Smarden, Kent in June 2006 with an auction result of GBP 24,000.00 (€ 34,727.60).
