Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work View from the Porch signed 'Durfee' (lower right), titled and dated '...1996' on a tag (affixed to the frame) 36 x 44 in. by Hazard Durfee was auctioned at Bonhams in Skinner Marlborough, Massachusetts in December last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 800.00 – 1,200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 510.00 (€ 476.72). Admittedly, works by Hazard Durfee have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Screened Porch Signed l.l., titled in inscription and label on the stretcher. Oil on canvas, 34 1/4 x 43 3/4 in., framed. in December last year with an auction result of USD 4,080.00 (€ 3,813.80).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit View from the Porch signed 'Durfee' (lower right), titled and dated '...1996' on a tag (affixed to the frame) 36 x 44 in. von Hazard Durfee im Dezember letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in Skinner Marlborough, Massachusetts versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 510,00 (€ 476,72) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Hazard Durfee auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Screened Porch Signed l.l., titled in inscription and label on the stretcher. Oil on canvas, 34 1/4 x 43 3/4 in., framed. im Dezember letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.080,00 (€ 3.813,80).
