Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Unknown by Hashimoto Sadahide was auctioned at Christies in New York in September 2006, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,160.00 (€ 1,702.53). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hashimoto Sadahide achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Amerikakoku Taisen No Zu (A Large American Steamship), 1864.3 in March 2006 with an auction result of USD 57,600.00 (€ 47,450.37).
