Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2011 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & British Paintings - Day Sale, which included the work An Assembly of the Gods, with Jupiter embracing Minerva, Venus confronting Diana observed by Hercules, Mercury, Cupid and Apollo, and Neptune and Hades conversing, in classical ruins by Hans von Aachen. The price achieved of GBP 121,250.00 (€ 139,152.51) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Hans von Aachen - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Pan and Selene, which sold at auction in December 2010 for GBP 241,250.00 (€ 279,849.27).
