In May 2001 Christies in Los Angeles held the auction CALIFORNIA, WESTERN AND AMERICAN PAINTINGS, which included the work Incoming Fog, La Jolla by Guy Rose. The »bidding war« ended at USD 545,000.00 (€ 644,589.00), 36% above the upper estimate. With this result, Incoming Fog, La Jolla is even the most expensive work of art by Guy Rose that we have observed at auctions so far.
