Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2007 Christies in New York held the auction 19th Century European Art and Orientalist Art, which included the work El picador con el toro by Gustave Colin. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 16,250.00 (€ 11,231.68) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gustave Colin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Pair Of Paintings: Telasco Defends His Fiancée Princess Amazili Against The Attacking Spaniards And A Young Inca Woman Is Offered To The Castilian Alonzo Molina For Marriage, which sold at auction in May 2008 for USD 49,000.00 (€ 31,491.00).
