Auction result well in line with expectations
The work La Dormeuse nue by Gustave Courbet was sold in the Collection de Monsieur & Madame Robert Schmit | Œuvres choisies – Session I auction at Sothebys in Paris in December 2021. The price achieved of EUR 738,500.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 600,000.00 – 1,000,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gustave Courbet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Femme Nue Couchée in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 15,285,000.00 (€ 14,471,690.97).

Die Arbeit La Dormeuse nue von Gustave Courbet wurde im Dezember 2021 in der Auktion Collection de Monsieur & Madame Robert Schmit | Œuvres choisies – Session I bei Sothebys in Paris versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 738.500,00 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 600.000,00 – 1.000.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gustave Courbet erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Femme Nue Couchée im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 15.285.000,00 (€ 14.471.690,97).
