Auction result well in line with expectations
The work An Arab caravan in the desert by Gustave Achille Guillaumet was sold in the 19th Century European Art including Orientalist Pictures auction at Christies in London in June 2003. The price achieved of GBP 2,585.00 (€ 3,714.79) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gustave Achille Guillaumet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Man in Profile, Algeria in March last year with an auction result of GBP 69,300.00 (€ 82,162.95).
