Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A gentleman, facing right in black coat and waistcoat, white shirt and black cravat, long sideburns by Guglielmo Faija was sold in the IMPORTANT PORTRAIT MINIATURES, GOLD BOXES & OBJECTS OF VERTU auction at Christies in London in November 2000. The price achieved of GBP 493.50 (€ 806.61) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 400.00 – 600.00. Admittedly, works by Guglielmo Faija have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait du duc de Bordeaux en uniforme de chasseurs à cheval in June this year with an auction result of EUR 7,872.00.
