The work Cristo e il tributo by Gregorio Preti was sold in the DIPINTI E DISEGNI ANTICHI auction at Christies in Rome in December 2002. The price achieved of EUR 49,600.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Cristo e il tributo is the most expensive artwork by Gregorio Preti that we have observed at auctions so far.
