Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a gentleman, half-length, in a black embroidered doublet and white ruff, holding a branch of vine leaves, in a feigned oval; and Portrait of a lady, half-length, in a black embroidered dress with a stomacher, wearing a gold chain, with a lace by Gortzius Geldorp was auctioned at Christies in London in April 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 15,448.84) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Gortzius Geldorp have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in May 2019 the work The Virgin And Child With Saint Anne was auctioned for GBP 17,500.00 (€ 19,808.95).
