Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Marilyn Monroe (Looking over shoulder), c. 1959 by Gordon Parks was auctioned at Christies in Paris in June 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 2,500.00. Admittedly, works by Gordon Parks have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work American Gothic, Washington D.C. in October last year with an auction result of USD 21,420.00 (€ 21,562.31).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Marilyn Monroe (Looking over shoulder), c. 1959 von Gordon Parks im Juni 2019 bei Christies in Paris versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 2.500,00 den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gordon Parks auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit American Gothic, Washington D.C. im Oktober letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 21.420,00 (€ 21.562,31).
