Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Shepherd In Love by Giovanni Segantini was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 68,750.00 (€ 75,482.93). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovanni Segantini achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le due madri, 1891 in March 2011 with an auction result of CHF 1,440,000.00 (€ 1,108,707.61).
