Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Capriccio Of Classical Ruins With Three Men Conversing At The Steps Of A Temple by Giovanni Niccolò Servandoni was sold in the Old Master and British Paintings Day Sale auction at Sothebys in London in July 2011. The price achieved of GBP 31,250.00 (€ 35,864.05) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Giovanni Niccolò Servandoni - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A capriccio of a ruined ionic temple and an obelisk with figures, which sold at auction in January 2003 for USD 141,500.00 (€ 131,762.73).
