The »bidding war« ended at USD 7,500.00 (€ 6,723.44), 25% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovanni Maria Butteri achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Allegorie der Geduld. in September last year with an auction result of CHF 171,100.00 (€ 177,641.08).

Im Oktober 2019 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Old Masters Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of A Boy In A Burgundy Coat And White Ruff, Bust-Length von Giovanni Maria Butteri zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 7.500,00 (€ 6.723,44) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Giovanni Maria Butteri erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Allegorie der Geduld. im September letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von CHF 171.100,00 (€ 177.641,08).
