Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In January this year Christies in New York held the auction Remastered: Old Masters from the Collection of J.E. Safra - Selling Without Reserve, which included the work Jacob's Journey by Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione. Here, the upper estimate of USD 350,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 378,000.00 (€ 348,130.41). Admittedly, works by Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Pagan Sacrifice in July 2000 with an auction result of GBP 971,750.00 (€ 1,571,306.96).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Januar diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Remastered: Old Masters from the Collection of J.E. Safra - Selling Without Reserve durch, in der auch die Arbeit Jacob's Journey von Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 350.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 378.000,00 (€ 348.130,41) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Pagan Sacrifice im Juli 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 971.750,00 (€ 1.571.306,96).
