In June 2002 Christies in London held the auction 19TH CENTURY EUROPEAN ART INCLUDING OTTOMANS & ORIENTALISTS, which included the work La curiositá by Giovanni Battista Torriglia. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 94,650.00 (€ 146,402.12), 58% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Giovanni Battista Torriglia - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Italian The Thread Of Life, which sold at auction in November 2007 for GBP 228,500.00 (€ 319,959.12).

Im Juni 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion 19TH CENTURY EUROPEAN ART INCLUDING OTTOMANS & ORIENTALISTS durch, in der auch die Arbeit La curiositá von Giovanni Battista Torriglia zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 94.650,00 (€ 146.402,12) und damit 58% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Giovanni Battista Torriglia mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Italian The Thread Of Life beobachtet, die im November 2007 für GBP 228.500,00 (€ 319.959,12) versteigert wurde.
