Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2021 a collector was able to acquire the work Portrait of an artist, traditionally identified as Pier Francesco Mola by Giovanni Battista Pace for USD 5,040.00 (€ 4,153.28). This price was achieved in the auction From Taddeo to Tiepolo: The Dr. John O’Brien Collection of Old Master Drawings at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Giovanni Battista Pace have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Saint Luke painting the Virgin in December 2018 with an auction result of GBP 17,500.00 (€ 19,496.55).
