In July 2004 Christies in London held the auction Old Master and 19th Century Drawings, which included the work Daedalus attaching wings to Icarus by Giovanni Battista Merano. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 8,365.00 (€ 12,641.36), 67% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Giovanni Battista Merano; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Christ Among the Doctors sold at auction in March 2017 with the realized price of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 14,648.77).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 67 % übertroffen
Im Juli 2004 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master and 19th Century Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Daedalus attaching wings to Icarus von Giovanni Battista Merano zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 8.365,00 (€ 12.641,36) und damit 67% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Giovanni Battista Merano; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Christ Among the Doctors im März 2017 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 12.500,00 (€ 14.648,77).
