Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Popolana in costume by Giovanni Battista Crema was auctioned at Christies in Rome in December 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of ITL 2,500,000.00 – 3,000,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for ITL 2,450,000.00 (€ 2,202.00). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Giovanni Battista Crema - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Scena Medioevale, which sold at auction in December 2003 for EUR 8,060.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Popolana in costume von Giovanni Battista Crema im Dezember 2001 bei Christies in Rom versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von ITL 2.500.000,00 – 3.000.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für ITL 2.450.000,00 (€ 2.202,00) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Giovanni Battista Crema mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Scena Medioevale beobachtet, die im Dezember 2003 für EUR 8.060,00 versteigert wurde.
