This artwork by Ginger Riley Munduwalawala achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Melbourne in July 2009. In the Aboriginal Art auction, the work The Ruined City In The Wet sold for AUD 62,400.00 (€ 35,328.51) - well above the upper estimate of AUD 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by Ginger Riley Munduwalawala have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work My Mothers Country, 1996 in April 2021 with an auction result of AUD 196,800.00 (€ 163,591.02).
