Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Landscape With Cattle, Horses, A Cheetah, A Camel And Other Animals by Gillis Claesz. d'Hondecoeter was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2019. The price achieved of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 10,979.34) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gillis Claesz. d'Hondecoeter - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Deer, a goat, a cat, a fox and birds in a wooded landscape, which sold at auction in May 2001 for NLG 70,500.00 (€ 33,961.74).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 10.000,00 (€ 10.979,34) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Gillis Claesz. d'Hondecoeter mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Deer, a goat, a cat, a fox and birds in a wooded landscape beobachtet, die im Mai 2001 für NLG 70.500,00 (€ 33.961,74) versteigert wurde.
