Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2001 Christies in London held the auction British Pictures 1500-1850, which included the work Portrait of a lady, half-length, in an embroidered dress with an ornate lace collar, feigned oval by Gilbert Jackson. The price achieved of GBP 8,225.00 (€ 13,088.57) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. Other works by Gilbert Jackson have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in April last year the work Portrait of a young woman called Elizabeth, bust-length, wearing a lace decorated collar over a pink dress was auctioned for GBP 20,160.00 (€ 24,040.09).
