Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a gentleman, traditionally identified as Sir Frederick Villiers, three-quarter-length, in a slashed black doublet and collar by Gilbert Jackson was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2020. It changed hands for a price of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 12,567.25) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Other works by Gilbert Jackson have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in April last year the work Portrait of a young woman called Elizabeth, bust-length, wearing a lace decorated collar over a pink dress was auctioned for GBP 20,160.00 (€ 24,040.09).
