This artwork by Georges Lilanga di Nayama achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Milan in April 2008. In the Contemporary Art 1953-2003, A Private Collection auction, the work Wana Furahia Mwaka Mpya sold for EUR 6,850.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 3,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Georges Lilanga di Nayama; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Manafurahia Kuchaguliwa Tena Mwenyekiti Wao Kw Mara Ya Pili (They Are Celebrating The Election Of Their Chairman For His Second Term) sold at auction in September 2012 with the realized price of USD 13,750.00 (€ 10,695.40).
