Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Hava Ni Mapacha Wanao Pendwa Sana by Georges Lilanga di Nayama was auctioned at Sothebys in Milan in April 2008, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at - in retrospect quite modest - EUR 3,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at EUR 9,250.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Georges Lilanga di Nayama; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Manafurahia Kuchaguliwa Tena Mwenyekiti Wao Kw Mara Ya Pili (They Are Celebrating The Election Of Their Chairman For His Second Term) sold at auction in September 2012 with the realized price of USD 13,750.00 (€ 10,695.40).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Hava Ni Mapacha Wanao Pendwa Sana von Georges Lilanga di Nayama im April 2008 bei Sothebys in Mailand versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – EUR 3.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit EUR 9.250,00 mehr als dreimal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Georges Lilanga di Nayama; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Manafurahia Kuchaguliwa Tena Mwenyekiti Wao Kw Mara Ya Pili (They Are Celebrating The Election Of Their Chairman For His Second Term) im September 2012 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 13.750,00 (€ 10.695,40).
