Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A couple admiring a circular Roman temple and other ruins by Georges-François Blondel was sold in the Old Master & Early British Drawings & Watercolours auction at Christies in London in July 2011. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 4,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,125.00 (€ 3,586.41) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Georges-François Blondel - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Intérieur du Panthéon à Rome ; et Vue intérieure du portique de l'église Santa Maria Maggiore à Rome, which sold at auction in March 2017 for EUR 8,125.00.

Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 4.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.125,00 (€ 3.586,41) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
