Auction result well in line with expectations
In June last year Bonhams in New York held the auction The Male Form, which included the work Untitled (Monroe Wheeler, Nude) by George Platt Lynes. The price achieved of USD 3,825.00 (€ 3,653.64) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Platt Lynes - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Yul Brynner, 1942, which sold at auction in October 2005 for USD 16,800.00 (€ 14,005.84).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion The Male Form durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (Monroe Wheeler, Nude) von George Platt Lynes zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 3.825,00 (€ 3.653,64) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von George Platt Lynes mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Yul Brynner, 1942 beobachtet, die im Oktober 2005 für USD 16.800,00 (€ 14.005,84) versteigert wurde.
