Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2016 Christies in London held the auction Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, Maritime Art, Sporting & Wildlife Art, which included the work "A very gallant gentleman": Lawrence 'Titus' Oates walking out into the night by George Percy Jacomb-Hood. The price achieved of GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,455.81) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by George Percy Jacomb-Hood have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Drawing Room At No. 26 Tite Street, Chelsea: A Portrait of The Artist'S Wife And Sister-In-Law in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 24,000.00 (€ 35,640.75).
