Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A gentleman in black coat and powdered hair by George Patten was sold in the Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu, Selected Silver, and auction at Christies in London in November 2005. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 200.00 – 300.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 216.00 (€ 317.33) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Patten achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Cupid imploring time to spare beauty in February 2011 with an auction result of USD 13,750.00 (€ 9,968.82).
