Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Fishing trawlers running into the harbour at Plymouth by George Henry Jenkins was auctioned at Christies in London in August 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 456.00 (€ 666.14). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Henry Jenkins - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Looking Out To Sea From The Cliffs, Torbay, South Devon; Anstey'S Cove, Torquay, South Devon; And Babbacombe Pier, South Devon, which sold at auction in January 2008 for GBP 1,625.00 (€ 2,178.38).
