Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A funeral cortege entering Westminster Abbey, London by George Haydock Dodgson was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 437.50 (€ 553.01). Other works by George Haydock Dodgson have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in February 2007 by the work Leaving the party by boat at GBP 420.00 (€ 622.63).

Als die Arbeit A funeral cortege entering Westminster Abbey, London von George Haydock Dodgson im Juni 2008 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 500,00 – 700,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 437,50 (€ 553,01) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von George Haydock Dodgson wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Februar 2007 die Arbeit Leaving the party by boat mit GBP 420,00 (€ 622,63).
