In September 2009 Christies in New York held the auction American Paintings, which included the work A Mountain Lake in the Tyrol by George Gunther Hartwick. The result of USD 5,000.00 (€ 3,417.63) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Gunther Hartwick - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Early Autumn Landscape, which sold at auction in March 2007 for USD 14,400.00 (€ 10,767.16).

Im September 2009 führte Christies in New York die Auktion American Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Mountain Lake in the Tyrol von George Gunther Hartwick zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 5.000,00 (€ 3.417,63) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von George Gunther Hartwick mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Early Autumn Landscape beobachtet, die im März 2007 für USD 14.400,00 (€ 10.767,16) versteigert wurde.
