Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Behind the Cathedral (San Miguel de Allende) by George Gibson was sold in the Christie's Interiors auction at Christies in New York in February 2008. The price achieved of USD 2,500.00 (€ 1,646.14) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by George Gibson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Pier in November 2001 with an auction result of USD 8,225.00 (€ 9,181.74).

Die Arbeit Behind the Cathedral (San Miguel de Allende) von George Gibson wurde im Februar 2008 in der Auktion Christie's Interiors bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 2.500,00 (€ 1.646,14) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Gibson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Pier im November 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 8.225,00 (€ 9.181,74).
