Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2003 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian Pictures, which included the work Portrait of Mr Pryor, seated three-quarter-length, in a black suit, holding a notebook and pen by George Fiddes Watt. The price achieved of GBP 705.00 (€ 710.13) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 600.00 – 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Fiddes Watt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Old Age And Youth in August 2006 with an auction result of GBP 7,800.00 (€ 11,599.09).
