In March 2004 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian including Scottish Paintings, which included the work Inverary, Argyll by George F. Buchanan. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,912.00 (€ 2,862.09), 27% above the upper estimate. With this result, Inverary, Argyll is even the most expensive work of art by George F. Buchanan that we have observed at auctions so far.
