Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2004 a collector was able to acquire the work Ornithological Studies from the Spanish West Indies: Three Plates by George Edwards for USD 418.25 (€ 308.95). This price was achieved in the auction THE HOUSE SALE at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 700.00 – 900.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Edwards achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Twelve Ornithological Studies, from A Natural History of Uncommon Birds in May 2012 with an auction result of GBP 5,250.00 (€ 6,541.27).
