Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Natural History of Uncommon Birds: Six Plates by George Edwards was sold in the The House Sale auction at Christies in New York in June 2005. The price achieved of USD 2,640.00 (€ 2,182.18) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Edwards - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Twelve Ornithological Studies, from A Natural History of Uncommon Birds, which sold at auction in May 2012 for GBP 5,250.00 (€ 6,541.27).
